Danny

I have the absolute best husband in the world!!!  Trust me.  I couldn’t do my job without him.  I teach agricultural education at the high school and part of my job is being the FFA advisor.  Not only do I do the required things like prepare for class and spend time training teams for competitions, but I am also very active in the professional organizations that I belong to.  Sometimes it feels that I always have something going on somewhere.
So why is my husband the best?  Well, when I’m gone he steps up to plate and makes sure that everything gets done.  He makes sure that the girls get to school on time, makes supper, makes sure that the girls take a bath, or sometimes he will even spend a weekend at home alone with the girls because I either have a meeting, a competition, or a convention to attend.  On some occasions when I haven’t been able to find a male sponsor for an FFA convention he will use up some vacation time to help me out.
I realize how lucky I am, even though I don’t always show my appreciation. So Danny, here it is you are the best husband, daddy and friend.  I love you!!!

January 25th

So this morning I get to school and I see the school counselor, and of couse she had an Ella story for me.  Imagine that, Ella is the child that I’m kind of surprised that I haven’t had to have a talk with the principal yet.  Anyways, one of the kindergarteners must have had a birthday, so the counselor was asking the kid how old he was, he answered nineteen, what said the counselor I didn’t realize that you were that old.  Then she asked the class the most dangerous question.  “How old do you think I am?”  One of the kids figured she was 29 but Ella just looked at her classmates and INFORMED them that she (the counselor) was 138 years old!
Tonight at supper Elizabeth informed us that she didn’t like her name.  I explained that her name is very special, it is mommy’s middle name plus it is Aunt Ellie given name.  Then I asked her why don’t you like your name?  “It takes me too long to write it on my paper, you know it has nine whole letters in it!"
Just an update:  late yesterday afternoon Ella had yet another eye check up in Ogallala.  For those of you that don’t know her right eye is weaker than her left eye, I don't know what it is called, but the eye doctor doesn't call it an lazy eye.  So she has to wear a patch for 2 hours every day.  She does really great, I have the alarm on my cell phone set so that it goes off at 4:30 and then it goes off again at 6:30.  We are so proud of her, I can only remember one time that she cried and cried because she didn’t want to wear her patch.  Last night when we got done, I had to stop by the drug store to buy more patches, I climbed back in the Tahoe and asked her if she wanted to put her patch on.   She just looked at me and said, “Mom, I don’t want to wear my patch while we are out to eat, I don’t like that everyone asks me why I have to wear it, but I’ll wear it when we are driving home.”  I just continue to pray that she will continue to make progress.  Too bad that she as inherited my sever astigmatism also.  I’m planning on having LASIKs done soon to “correct” mine, I just wish that there was something more that we could do for Ella.

Elizabeth and Ella

Ok, so the real reason for this blog, Elizabeth and Ella (E and E).  Elizabeth is in the first grade and is 6 years old.  Ella is in kindergarten and is 5 years old.  They are 15 months apart in age, which sometimes is great, when they get along, but it is also hard because they are often fighting because they are together way too much.
I thought I’d share some of the funny things that have come out their mouths the past couple weeks.
Elizabeth
Elizabeth is in her second year of Girl Scouts, they meet in one of the Sunday school rooms at our church.   This past Tuesday, while they were having a snack, Elizabeth began to sing, no big deal right?  Wrong.  Well, they were having drinks in a certain color of cup…  Now I don’t know how many of you listen to country music but we listen to it a lot, obviously.  Elizabeth proceeded to sing as loud as she could Toby Keith’s song, Red Solo Cup.  Red Solo Cup, I fill you up, let’s have a party, let’s have a party.  We have already explained to her that Red Solo Cup is not a school appropriate song, but we forgot to mention that it really shouldn’t be sung in church.
Ella
Ella is doing great in kindergarten and she is so proud of her school work.  Well, a week and half ago I had the flu and I was trying really hard to just function.  Anyways, Ella was showing me her school work when so very excitedly shout out , “I got my period!”
What?” I said (you can imagine what my thought was)
“I got my period!” “Right here at the end of this sentence!”
A Conversation Between Elizabeth and Ella
On Friday the girls went and had their hair cut.  While my good friend Lana was cutting Ella’s hair she asked Elizabeth what she got for Christmas.   Elizabeth named off quite a few of her Christmas presents then she told Lana that she got a diary and Ella said it wasn’t a diary it was diarrhea!

Why Not????

So I figured that since I love reading other peoples blog that maybe I should return the favor.  Not that I think that my life is that interesting, because it's not.  Actually, I think it is because I was looking for a way to record some of the things, the moments, that happen in my life and in my family's life.  I've tried and failed at writing in a journal so maybe a blog will work better?  Stay tuned for some embarrassing stories about my daughters that I'm sure they will hate me for in their young adult years.
